Art hearts

Found this near a jogger's trail. The stone hearts twined around a utility pole, their spiral leading to a blue glass bottle stuffed with a feather and some now-dry flowers.

Illustration Friday: Match

Feel free to grab and add color/texture...I liked this concept, but would love to see what y'all do with it!

If you do play with these matches, leave me a comment and a link so I can see your "matchless" efforts.

The kind folks at qarrtsiluni have added one of my previously unpublished pics to their site, as part of their "experiment in online literary and artistic collaboration." The title of their site comes from an Alaskan Inuit word for sitting together in the darkness, waiting for something to burst.

Go and visit -- lots of nice writing, art and other creative energy going on there.

Silent "talkie"

For my movie-loving friends. Found this outside a store in Jerome Arizona, gathering windblown sand.

The RCA Photophone was, along with the Western Electric Vitaphone, an early sound-on-film solution that turned silent films into "talkies." RCA Photophone was later bought by Joe Kennedy as part of the creation of his film production company, RKO Pictures.

How many of those kids who watched RKO movies at the Saturday matinee are now sharing videos of their grandchildren through the internet?
