Hi everyone -- just got back from a biz trip, and it cheers me to find you enjoying the odd iron bits as much as I did!
KPW: It's very difficult even now for me to give some sense of the scale -- they were atop an old building in Fredericksburg, and I'm not sure really how big or small they were.
Polona: The local limestone quarried for buildings wears nicely; my angle disguised the fact that this was a side wall for a frou-frou antiques store.

Granny J: Dang, what a great image! Or maybe we could call 'em "cloud catchers" -- instead of those old steam-train cow-catchers, one uses these to snag elusive clouds.
Bubba: I sure do agree. And local stone also gives such a sense of place to a place.
BobZ: No big story. Just a 30 second idle moment visiting with a friend, and when I looked up, I saw 'em -- and when my friend's eye followed mine, she said "Are you going to anchor the image with that coppery circle thing?" "Well duh! Of course!" I replied.
