There are a few feral hydrants here in Hannibal, one of which I have photographed; I'm curious as to whether they will breed and establish a wild population.

Ah - very rare to find one In it's Natural Habitat! But I bet those trees are Glad for the security and knowledge that they can phone-it-in for a Fire Alarm and Get prompt action!

After my boyfriend came back from Vietnam in 1971, besides painting a Rambler station wagon dark blue with pale blue stars, he painted feral hydrants. I remember walking alone in a suburban forest park centered around a creek and being surprised to see a feral hydrant he had painted to look like a colorful little person. He also painted a neat trim mustache on a Jesus mural on the outside wall of a local Catholic church school. I was horrified when he showed me what he had done, but eventually I saw the humor because he did such a good job that no one noticed.

I like the way your blog keeps me focused on the present while reminding me of the past in good ways.

Looks pretty spiffy to me, though it does seem to be placed in an out-of-the-way location.

This is GREAT!!!! I love to snap hydrants. I made a Warholish collage of them once...this would have been an awesome addition.
