The foreground looks like a combination watercolor/fresco.
The background looks like the torture cell in a prison camp.
The contrast is stunning. It's almost as if the foreground stands in for some sort of decoration of the walls of the background - aesthetically incongruous, yet visually complementary.
..and if it weren't for your blog, I don't think I'd ever be reading all these contemporary poets.

looks really nice large. i don't know why, but the patterns and colors remind me of purvis young. love the shot!
