Star-spangled mid-afternoon

  1. Snow's Barbecue in Lexington, about fifty miles from you. See Calvin Trillin in this week's New Yorker.

I almost went out to Rockdale this weekend to look for lonely ol' rust -- was too tired for the out-and-back, so stayed closer to home. If the press of schoolwork leavens a bit this weekend, it'd be a good trip -- Cedar Park to Rockdale, then south on 77 to Lexington.

But I would be too late for the BBQ.

I have a friend who made the pilgrimage, and she said it was all ungodly good and more. But they sell out by 9am or so -- it's gotten to the point where people are camping nearby to be the first in line.
