That gal who did the lovely quilting I mentioned told me about looking out her shop window to see two teenage boys walking down the street with a goat on a leash. She said another time she looked out her window and saw a woman in a kelley-green pinstriped suit cradling a vivid green iguana in her arms. This is all in a small western city, mind you, not on a farm or at the circus.
I told her my crackpot theory du jour, that the act of looking openly called these things forth.
And that's the best explanation I can offer up for this savage birch tree!
