Waiting while the shadows lengthen

"...Look,
here are the broken treaties Beauty
brought to us earthbound sentinels."

"sometimes a sober voice is enough to calm the waters and drive away the false witnesses..."
and provide the rungs to the ladder, too. Now: does one climb the shadow or the iron steps? (just kidding)

!!! Wow !!!

"Waiting while the shadows lengthen"

When I first looked at your photo this morning I saw a page of music with an inkle belt draped across it.

And TSM (thanks so much) for introducing Yusef Komunyakaa to me, which led me to find these words from him:

‘But Othello’s/only fictional,’ I say./ ‘No, he’s actually/ a composite,’ the archivist says.”

and this:

"He's lost his right arm/ inside the stone. In the black mirror/ a woman's trying to erase names:/ No, she's brushing a boy's hair."
(at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial)

To answwer zlatovyek's question -- it depends upon whether one is climbing or descending the staircase. Lovely image.

Another multilayered fascinating photo of some crappy warehouse made beautiful through your eyes.

I saw the sheet music in this image, too. How on earth do you find the time both to take these superb photos and to come up with the pithiest, most perfect lines of poetry for each of them? Thank you, dear heart, for what you said about my recent work. I'm off to check out what you've been doing on your Book of Hours project!
