Hatched

Back home -- a good visit, but glad to return.

Just before I left, something hatched:
I was accepted into a local Master of Liberal Arts program!

The program is designed for people like me who have a full time work-life, and it will give me a chance to develop and make creative connections without leaving other things I love.

The community I've "met" via these pixels (that means you) have been the incubator I needed to break through to this new adventure -- and I thank you for that.

A special shout-out to a few blog-friends who've been gracious enough to act as off-line sounding-board, inspiration, instigator, cheering section and/or cattle-prod:
Ed
Laura
Marly
Ernesto
Jarvenpa

In late August, I'll shift my post frequency/focus as needed to fit my new journey, and I may occasionally ask for help from all y'all related to projects and such.

Stay tuned...it will be fun growing wings!

I'm so thrilled for you! And I applaud your courage in taking this big new step--you'll knock 'em dead, kid!

Congratulations, Lori! That sounds like a great program. You must have a lot of energy to take it on and still work. Best of luck and new creative inspirations!

It'll be fun to watch you fly! I imagine great swoops and plunges and delighted flapping.

HEY! That's so good! I am very happy for you, Lori. Thanks for the shout-out, but there's no need for it. When there's talent and hard work there's talent and hard work. Your humble readers only thank you for sharing it with us.

You are also a continuous inspiration. I have been drawing on top of photographs and attempting more visual stuff also because of you. I always carry my sketchbook when I go for coffee as well and think of you doing the same!

It's so cool. Felicidades!

I thought we were your MLA faculty, and Chatoyance was your thesis ?!?

Assuming that this is a career move, best wishes on whatever new direction you'll be taking -- but I hope we still keep getting all those pictures and poems on a daily basis !

I can picture you with your new wings! That good news is heartening. Your generous blog continues to be an inspiration.

The focused energy that has resulted from blogging has renewed my commitment to the practice of art as well as leading me to become a massage therapy practitioner at age 57. Am awaiting news as to whether I have been accepted into a 1-year training program starting in September 2007.

What a great bunch of "attagals"! Thanks so very much for all your support -- I have a feeling I may need it!

:-)

Laura -- That percussive sound you heard was the sound of my knees knocking. But scaired or no, after speaking to the people involved in the program, I couldn't not do it.

Marja-Leena -- My husband says I'm sort of like a small child -- I just go go go go until I fall over. That may be what it takes, but I'm hoping I can defer the "falling over" part for a while...

Jarvenpa -- The part I'm looking forward to the most is meeting those other crazy, er, brave souls who've decided to do the program. Broadening my local connections as I meet other fledglings will be a good thing...

Ernesto -- How cool that we have a mutual inspiration society going! :-) I would love to read how your forays into visual attentiveness affect your writing.

Chris -- I'd call you "Teach," but figure you'd hate it! :-) Today's (non-art) exploits...I made butter from scratch (er, actually from heavy cream.) Must get the bread out of the oven...

Back again (mmmm, bread smells good.)

AM -- I'm so happy your art-well is replenishing, and how exciting about massage school! I hope you'll post something whether accepted or no, but they'd be idjits not to let you learn and grow into massage arts.

Annie -- Merci buckets! It is more than a little departure for me, but the people I met and spoke with were so generous with their time and support for us non-specialist types, it was irresistible.

Dave -- Thanks tons, and I hope to bring more new readers to qarrt as a side benefit from that path. Fabulous porcupine encounter, BTW.

PMBC -- It's always hard to find the time (and the $) to do these things, but what is life without more learning? Thanks, as always, for your ongoing inspiration. :-)

Congratulations! Be sure to let us know how we can be supportive. I've just signed up for a life drawing class myself. Yikes!
