I signed off on using the word "iconic" for 2008, so I'll have to invent something to get the thrust and impact inherent in this photo. Maybe "semiotic"? Whatever. It is emblematic of modern American culture and should have a place on the dollar bill.
Kids in India and Japan are given their first computers at age five and six. We give our kids their first Chevy at that time.
We are losing the war on science but we know how to hot-wire Chevys.
