The particular play of the light and colors that I grew up with. That it still exists. That it is ancient. The high holy play of light. For me, THAT'S what it is about your photographs that is so moving and engaging.
Lee: And you will, and I'll go by and see whassup... :-)
tut-tut: Sorry. (I am a Force for Eeeevilll...)
Polona: Yepper!
am: It is lots about light for me, you're right. But it's also about the random ordinariness of where I find these things and myself...this, for example (as was the item in the "Offering" post earlier) was what I saw while standing outside a Sta**bucks, a particularly small and ugly one, in a particularly cramped strip mall in suburban USA. It's my desire to keep myself alert and awake to moments where things are beautiful.
Laura: Actually, I sorta wanted to take some paper and do a rubbing on the palm trunks for that lovely fibrous texture there. (Maybe I should go and tell Marja-Leena about this.) Now, go get thee some Schmincke and rock on so I can oohh and ahhh over your fine colorist's eye!
