Looking back

Waiting to meet someone for a breakfast business chat, I thought, "Well I could draw right now." And so I did.

I like the flux that flows between the "looking forward" and "looking backward" points of view.

I find these small sketches almost relaxing, quick takes that are remarkably pleasant distractions from my perpective. It seems so "easy" just to have a napkin and a pencil, much like a magician sitting around with a couple of coins of a deck of cards refining his art. The photographs are marvelous but for me, this work is what counts.

You should check out Jan Van Eyck's painting "THE ARNOLFINI WEDDING PORTRAIT" and his use of the mirror. I think you'll like it.

But you weren't driving and drawing, right?

Time and space and pencil are all relative, it seems

I love doing that self-portrait in a rearview mirror, too! I did one at the end of last year/2005 and was planning on updating for this year 2006/2007. You've inspired me not to forget! Lovely, lovely sketches you've been making.

Your sketch work never fails to impress. Just spent some time looking through them. Great work.

And those giant bananas...nice! :)

The "looking forward and looking backward points of view." Ah that is being happy where you are! I can see you live that reality by your living every moment... rearview mirror smiles!
