I went to Carmen's Cafe the last time I was in Marfa. Darn good Tex-Mex, slant light through cheap lace curtains, homely hand-painted murals, a cabal of tough-looking middle-aged ladies dishing over lunch, some old frail gentlemen, and no sign of the foo-foo arts community except for one table's denizen wearing Euro-styled eyeglasses. Oh, and there was the lady with the green parrot...
