"...I've made a small hole in the silence, a tiny one,
Just big enough for a word. ..."

From "Nine-Panel Yaak River Screen" by Charles Wright

yesterday, I wrote:
hearing the poems in morse code
long silences silences silences
short bursts of words words words

Wright says it more elegantly: "I walk at random among the day's dactyls and anapests"

Whatever. You will always be welcome in my world, Lori, that's for sure. I'm glad I met you.

I'm thinking most of us (of a certain age) have experienced "welcomes" that were, um, slant. You captured it perfectly.
